ERC Starting Grants support promising researchers who are at the beginning of an independent research career. The creation of their own research team will be funded with the grant. For the evaluation of the researcher profile several benchmarks according to research domain and career development are taken into account.

ERC Advanced Grants support excellent Principal Investigators at the career stage at which they are already established research leaders with a recognised track record of research achievements. and STARS-CoGs, the budget also features an amount covering a research grant contract, type B2 (max. 40.000€ per year), to be foreseen when the PI does not hold a permanent position at Unipd.

An ERC grant can cover up to 100% of the total eligible direct costs of the research plus a contribution of 25% of the total eligible costs towards indirect costs. How to apply? ERC grant applications can only be submitted in response to a Call for Proposals. The ERC has yearly calls for proposals covering all scientific fields.
